Mechanical assist device were originally developed to bridge the time till a heart for transplantation becomes available.  In the last decade continues flow left ventricular assist devices( LVAD) allow a permanent implantation in patients unsuitable for transplantation.

LVAD implantation can be performed by a full split of your breast bone (sternotomy) or minimal invasive by small incisions under the breast or a partial sternotomy.

Together with our team we offer the following services:

  • Short-term assist device (ECMO/ECLS) for heart and lung failure
  • Long-term assist devices (LVAD) for bridge to transplant
  • Long-term assist devices (LVAD) for destination (currently not for NHS patients due to regulatory restrictions)

The choice of procedure deserves an individual assessment and will be adjusted to your needs and expectations.
